Introducing "Echoes of the Past," a tote bag that's more than just an accessory – it's a wearable work of art that captures the spirit of the American Southwest in every stitch.

This particular tote bag was a puzzle of patterns because I was working with four distinct yet beautifully coordinated fabrics. I knew I wanted exterior pockets (because, let’s be honest, every tote bag needs them), but I didn’t want the exterior pockets to disrupt the bag’s seamless design and visual appeal.

The solution? Welch pockets. Unlike traditional patch pockets, welch pockets are cleverly hidden between the exterior fabric and the lining, appearing as a sleek, clean slit on the surface. They maintain the bag’s functionality without interfering with the aesthetic.

But, of course, every solution creates a new challenge. This time, it was: How do the straps interact with the hidden pockets without disrupting their function?
