It can help one develop communication skills, as the creative process is a universal language of its own. A picture (sculpture, or any object) can indeed tell a story in a thousand words. One's creation will express oneself in ways that may be difficult to do through words alone. And it doesn’t have to be serious and heavy – creativity can be a form of play, too! It can help clear one's mind and provide an outlet for the beauty that one sees in the world.

The creative process is a great way to challenge oneself to take risks without facing severe consequences if things don’t go according to plan. If one doesn't like the "finished product" it can be changed, discarded or destroyed. The worst that can happen is one had the opportunity to learn what doesn't work.
